In 1982 the Dance Committee of the ITI founded International Dance Day to be celebrated every year on 29 April, the anniversary of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), the creator of modern ballet. The intention of the International Dance Day Message is to celebrate Dance, to revel in this art form, to cross political, cultural and ethnic barriers and bring people together through Dance. Every year a message from an outstanding choreographer or dancer is circulated throughout the world. This year the message will be written Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.

The celebration will feature:
- Violin Phase, part 3 of Fase (1983),
choreography & dance: Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker,
music: Steve Reich, Violin Phase (1967) and violin: Shem Guibboryan
- An excerpt from Thierry De Mey’s film “Rosas danst Rosas"
- Dance performance by Frontier Danceland Singapore
- Dance performance by Salva Sanchis and Kris Defoort (piano)
